Retro Caveats

This is a brief discussion of the kind of risks we all face when dealing with software and hardware, most of which is now over 15 years old.

At Comical Games we make a very genuine effort to describe all of our items in detail to ensure you get what you pay for. All consoles are tested fully before being listed, however due to the sheer number of games and accessories that pass though our warehouse it may not be possible to test every single item exaustively. This means that if a particular game has a battery back-up (that holds save-game data for the game), we cannot guarantee that these will continue to function indefinately.

As some of you may be aware, there is also a problem with cartridge-loading consoles of games not loading on the first attempt. This is a very common occurance and in no way means that either your cartridge or console is faulty. Age simply means these things may not work perfectly first time, and so we recommend a few simple methods to 'get it going':

• Blow on the cartridge lightly along the interface section to ensure all dust has been fully cleared.
• Do the same for the console at the point where you insert the cartridge.
• Eject and Re-insert the cartridge several times and try to ensure it has been inserted fully.

We find that the majority of games thought to be broken will actually work when these steps are performed, and we strongly advise you make multiple attempts before returning an item to us as faulty - because if we can then get it working with the tried and tested method above, you will not be eligible for a refund. We will, though, return your item back to you free of charge so you can give it another go.

Again, because of age, we cannot offer warranties or any assurance that these items will continue to work for any great length of time - its reasonable to assume very old computers will eventually stop working beyond repair, so while we make every effort to ensure everything is working when you get it, you can't come back to us in a year complaining that something has broken.

Hopefully you'll think this is reasonable and honest, and we freely give you this warning because any other retailer you approach selling retro games and accessories could do no better!
